I've been telling my colleagues, peers and friends that 2010 was going to be a year of "big change". Positive or negative, I had absolutely no idea, all I could do was hope. I was right but, change rarely comes without a sacrifice and I was right once again. Its been a tough year so far but nothing that couldn't be handled with a bit of patience and the will to keep on doing what I do best, design and believe.

Here's to a year of change or closure or whatever it may be, I still remain forever the wandering artist! May 2010 be your year of victory!

After the fall of the mighty 13Entertainment, I have done a ton of advertising for DJ"s and a variety of events and event management companies. In December 2008, I/WildeyeConcepts found a new event partner in the form of DJ Rizni Reza, AKA, The Guru! Frequency69 is the only event management company I know that has picked its niche, and concentrates soley on one kind of event, Beach Parties! Three events have passed by, and we are now working on the third, "Snow On The Beach"!

The design I first submitted, was passed up in favor of a color-scheme and design thought up in-house. In exactly two weeks, my original design will now be implemented, totally replacing the current color scheme and layout.

Insomnia T-shirts

One of the few total flash-based websites designed by me, the Insomnia site is special ,simply because of the incredibly easy-to-use basic content management system. As see in the screenshot above, the site allows an administrator to change the music, add and remove images to the main slideshow, add and remove mini-banners from the scroller at the bottom of the site and most importantly, add and remove T-shirt designs to every category under the "Mens" and "womens" pages.

The main loading graphic was also incorporated into a business card, presentation and other media by me, for the CEO of Insomnia, as he competed against several others for the "Fashion Entrepenuer Of The Year" competition in 2008.

This site will soon be no more, as Insomnia (I've been informed) now has its own in-house designer, who will give the two year old site a complete design and functional overhaul. It has been nice working with one of the most popular brands of t-shirts in Sri Lanka and being a part of its evolution. It was a extremely sad September when H2O & Sugar announced the end of their reign as Colombo's top clubs as the good old Union Place venue was changing ownership.

To me, H2O was more than just a happening nightclub, my favorite in fact. It wasn't just where I danced till dawn on many a night, but also where I made many new business connections ,which rocketed me up to the niche I was aiming at. H2O will surely be missed as Colombo's biggest and most happening nightclub and Colombo's premier retro lounge Sugar will be missed just as much.

Whenever the action died down in H2O, the crowd would race upstairs to sugar, party up there until H2O warmed up and race back down. I had long ago lost count of the number of fliers, mailers, campaigns among many other design projects I have completed under these two names and will always remember the hectic days of working on an event, followed by the whirling lights and auditory artistry with good friends and fellow party-goers.

The administration has informed me that there will be another club coming up soon, following the same concept of Sugar. Thank you for the memories, and thank you for the experiences!

This was one mailer I was extremely nervous to release! The theme for this weekend was "kinky". I saw this picture and just tried out. The resulting artwork was a sexy, sleek, yet classy teaser. Since this was an intended mailer aimed at a specific target audience, I felt safe but, felt nerous till the next week came around. After all, we are in Sri Lanka, all it takes is for one bad-tempered, know-it-all with an ignorant opinion which she/he thinks matters, to cause trouble over"indecent exposure". I look forward to getting this daring!

Samba at Casa

Been a while since I've posted any of my work dude to the workload. A treat for the lovers of house music or "Soulfull House" to be exact, took place in March at Casa Colombo, starring Chris Samba, one of the worlds most famous DJ's who spins his stuff alongside the likes of Pablo Martinez.

I, unfortunately could not get his feedback on my design, which apparently he had loved and wanted to feature it on HIS website(or so i was told). Maybe I can mail him and get a quote off him? Here's hoping!

Its about time someone thought of a nineties night! Sahara nights, Domino dancing, Fine young cannibals, the list goes on. These songs will never fail to get you in a tow tapping frenzy along with the rush of memories. Organized by the H2O /Sugar crew, the 90's night promises to be a good one. I had quite a time coming up with a concept to capture the feel of the era we all grew up in. I give you The boss! Nothing captures the 90's like Bruce! See you there!

One of SriLanka's most successful nightclubs just adopted a new image. New logo and advertising concepts by Devaka Perera, WildeyeConcepts. The interior itself got a huge red-and-black makeover which i tried to emulate in my designs. Above, you see the first of a few mailers that were sent out to publicize the VIP relaunch of H2O and its members cocktail before being opened to the public. Forgot to get myself a date for this one, yikes! Move fast, Devaka!

This I put together for the biggest United Nations conventions that happen annually, the ICAP. Though I wasn't fortunate enough to secure all the advertising for it, I managed to design and print the external review of the STD and AIDS response in Sri Lanka 2006 booklets, cover. The staff of UNAIDS were very kind in including my name as the designer responsible for the creation of their cover.

Sri Lanka's twelve-hour beach party organized by 13Entertainment and advertised by WildeyeConcepts. The party boasted the biggest crowd ever to grace a party held in Colombo & has yet to be beaten. 06 of Colombo's top DJ's including DJ Venus from Dubai supplied the sounds. Though I had a history of creating street-art, my previous projects were beaten simply by the sheer enormity of the area that needed covering. It was not however the area, but the deadline that was just too tempting to pass up. TWO DAYS.

I still hear the compliments roared and whispered to me by the passing throng of party-goers. some knew me, some didn't. To me, it just made me grin all the harder!
